NEA BRIEFS
Write an introduction to the task... something along the lines of: "In this post I'm going to choose my brief for the NEA and I'll be coming up with initial ideas for both the required products... I will be creating a mind map to record my ideas".
INTRODUCTION:
I'm creating this post to gather my ideas, in order to plan my brief for the NEA. This will consist of a collection of drafts, mindmaps along side other plans, to conclude my developed final vision that i will work towards, in progessive steps. This will be highly beneficial for myself because it will help me ineterpret my findings into how im going to create the contents required for my chosen idea.
CHOSEN BRIEF:
My chosen brief is Magazines and Online. I have decided that this form of media will allow me to be the most creative, while enabeling me to project my intentions to my audience of choice clearly and effectively. I invision myslef in a creative career, therefore having chosen a brief that requires a high level of inovation will be the best suited to my character; I will be able to use my unique personal atributes to create a high-quality piece of work.
I have a pasion for historical documentaries, and as a result my reseach skills have become highly effective, this will able me to identify the correct topics for my brief. Further more, by currently taking Art at A-Level, I have gained the ability to develop and refine ideas, which will aid me when designing both magazine editions, while adapting my design to best draw the attention of my target audience.
Alongside this, when taking such a conceptual subject like art, you have to perceive a certain subject matter in mutiple different forms; this may varry from the point of view of the consumer to what techniques are used in order to trigger an emotion from the audience. In order to achieve this, i have explored photography previously; this medium allows you to manipulate what the eye perceives, creating a whole different perspective depending on the creator's intentions. This could be highly benificial when creating my Current Affairs magazine, especially when focusing on how to capture the required phtography for my front cover.

CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, from the collective ideas above, I visualise my first front cover, focusing on the Coronavirus, to include a close-up of an individual's face, whom is perceived to be terminally ill. Stereotypically, they will wear a hospital mask and will look extremely out of composure. In order to create this effect, different forms of make-up will be applied to the one's body in varied places. I have chosen to use a model of the female sex, this is due to society's hegemonic ideas of women. The audience will most likely perceive a female as weak and vulnerable and therefore feel sympathetic, especially when using content of an intense nature.
Another possible idea which I may consider, for my Current Affairs front cover focusing on the Coronavirus, is capturing a long shot of a young individual, preferably a child of the male sex, dressed in a hospital gown. He will be presented as vulnerable and in need; showing the audience the suffering of his illness. I visualise this being located in the centre of a hospital hallway, with an extremely ominous, gloomy and dark surrounding. Additionally, the individual will have both a respiratory device and an IV fluids tube. Overall, the reasoning behind my vision, is that by having a young child, the audience will feel an instinct to protect because usually, society percieves children as pure and innocent, whom seak comfort and guidance. As a result, the audience will also feel more anxious and vulnerable themsleves, due to how powerful and dangerous the virus is presented.
For my second front cover focusing of Sexual Harassment, I visualise the layout being vertically split. On the left there will be a silhouette of a women's back; the audienece will be able to identify scars and areas of swollen tissue. In order to create this effect, special effects make-up will be used; this idea will also be interpreted by the audience as there will be an individual of the male sex in the background with the possession of a knife. I have carefull costructed this scene to present the physical violence that one can act upon another individual; by applying PROPP's theory, the female here is presented as the damnsel in distress, which is co-responded with society's stereotypes of women, as they are perceived and fragile and with a lack of power. As a result, the audience should feel remorse and sicked for this cruel act. Additionally, on the left, there will be a construct of the human skeleton. It will be broken, through the use of the significant weapon, a hammer. In order to stage this correctly and add dimentions and depth, the skeleton with be presented as the center piece and I will use an idividual of the male sex to hold the weapon within the background. This is to project the lack of attention one pay's to the damage which is created internally. Consequently, the audience is manipulated to feel fearful, alarmed and apprehensive due to how dominant, assertive and powerful the male individual is presented. Overall, there will a mass quantity of editing needed in order to create the overall product, however, i will take steps in photographing the featuring pieces primarily and then progress towards editing.
